The Université 8 mai 1945 Guelma- Algeria is located at 500 Km in the east of Algiers. It is a multidisciplinary institution with a total of 16736 students for 2015/2016 – 27 departments and 7 faculties- 62 Master degrees -77 Bachelor degrees – 851 permanent lecturers- 800 employees and 23 research laboratories. Its libraries consist of 200000 books – A “Center of Information Systems and Elearning” – A massive deployment of ICT by sharing the Internet access for all users.
The University has several cooperation agreements with local and national businesses and industries and has established cooperation with several HEI from countries of the European Union EU. Université 8 mai 1945 Guelma has an experience in the participation and management of Tempus, ERASMUS MUNDUS and Erasmus+ projects. The University has participated in Tempus projects with a first Tempus project FEFEDI closed by January 2013 and in a second Tempus project EOLES (2012), an Erasmus Mundus UNetBA project with Las Palmas University, an Erasmus+ project COFFEE with University of Montpellier- France, a project Tuning Africa with Universidad de Deusto, Bilbao, an Erasmus+ mobile+2 project with Université de Porto- Portugal and an Erasmus+ project INSTART with university of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria-Espagne.
In terms of e-learning, the University has acquired knowledge and best practices in the e-learning solutions via its participation in the Tempus project EOLES ‘Electronics and Optics e-Learning for Embedded Systems’ and academic staff from the university are activating as TU teachers. Also, the University is involved in a new project with the AUF in the field of the remote laboratory entitled ReLaTraPE ‘Réseau de Laboratoire de Travaux Pratiques d’Electronique’ which intends to build an Electronic Remote Laboratory at the University.
